Equipment Watch released their 2nd QTR 2013 Auction Results on Crawler Mounted Hydraulic Excavators.  During these last few months, there was an interesting shift in the pricing when Komatsu upset Caterpillar as the manufacturer with the HIGHEST average unit sale price.  Caterpillar has maintained this position for nearly two years previous to the change.  Contributors to this shift are the demand for older model Komatsu excavators in the Southeast Asia market.

Another shift that would raise eyebrows is the fact that Deere is currently the manufacturer that has the lowest resale value.  With their significant market share in Agricultural segment, it is not clear why they are not maintaining higher resale values.

The majority of these excavators were being sold into Canada.  This is largely due to the TransCanada and Enbridge pipeline projects.
