People have become increasingly more innovative throughout the years thanks to heavy machinery. However, some people are taking their creativity to a whole new level.
Recently, the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) arrested three men for attempting to smuggle more than 1 ton of marijuana into the state of Ohio using ripper attachments. According to a report from 10tv.com, the DEA has named this “one of the most sophisticated drug smuggling cases it’s ever seen.”
The ripper attachments were loaded with 20 to 30 bricks of marijuana with an estimated worth of $2 million. It was finally stopped when a state trooper noticed the “grease fittings weren’t loaded right.”
Ohio is not the only state where something similar to this has taken place. Two occasions of a trailer hauling heavy machinery attachments were seized in West Texas during the month of April. The loads of marijuana were found inside a bulldozer blade and plow ripper with an estimated worth of $1.9 million.
Most of these loaded attachments are put together south of our border because they are cheaper and have less environmental restrictions. This method of smuggling has been successful due to the amount of traffic the border gets of these castings every day.
