Equipment Watch recently released market data concerning average resale age on used heavy construction equipment.
The information which evaluates information for the continental United States, indicates there are some significant differences in average age on equipment being resold versus through auctions. For example, the average age for resale on a wheel loader is 7.4 years versus 14 years in an auction.
The lowest variance in average age was seen in the categories of Telescopic Boom Aerial Lifts and Pneumatic Tire Lift Trucks. The highest variance in average age was seen in the categories of wheel loaders and backhoes.
This is largely due to retailers focusing on higher ticket items and items that can qualify for financing.
