Representatives with Expert Heavy Equipment (EHE) announced an initiative it has started in order to create strategic partnerships with used heavy equipment suppliers in Europe and Japan.
Milissa Wise, the Director of Operations and Marine-Veteran, explained that this will be the first year EHE will purchase used heavy equipment outside of the United States and Canada.
Because the US dollar continues to strengthen, we are committed to exploring safe options of sourcing used construction equipment outside of the United States and Canada. Wise explained.
According to Wise, EHE is targeting Japan as a primary resource for two reasons: (1) heavy equipment in Japan is serviced and maintained meticulously; (2) the operators are well trained.
Wise added that targeting of Europe will be more strategic. There is not a registration process for heavy equipment. As a result, heavy equipment is targeted for theft, Wise stressed, before adding, We are one of the only resellers that provide our customers with the added security of checking each machine through National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC), so we are actively identifying European companies that implement similar safe practices to reduce risk.
Wise went on to note that creating strategic partnerships with suppliers in Europe and Japan is a win, win. The strength of the USD will mean there will be additional markets for sourcing used equipment, so all three markets will stand to gain.
Wall Street Journal, reported via a blog post on March 11, 2015, stating that Barclays forecasts that by year end the euro will be trading at a 1:1 ratio with the US dollar.
Against the Japanese yen, the US dollar hit its strongest level since 2007 as reported by Reuters, March 10, 2015.
